Event: Voice of Reason
Bat Conservation Trust
Following an enthusiastic reception at the National Bat Conference, Paola Reason is back with an extended talk to share her reflections on 30 years of bat work and consultancy. Paola looks backwards to how she became a consultant, through the early years (remember BatLine?) and forwards (what’s next and how we can do better…). The voice of reason?! Opportunity for questions and discussion at the end.
Paola is a Chartered Ecologist and Fellow of CIEEM, and a member of Natural England’s Bat Expert Panel. She is on the Technical Review Board for the Bat Survey Guidelines and was the lead author of the UK Bat Mitigation Guidelines (alongside Stephanie Wray). She is a member of Infrastructure and Ecology Network Europe (IENE)’s Scientific and Expert Committee and (to her great surprise) made the ENDS 2024 Power List as an influential environmental consultant. She is currently co-supervising a PhD on the impacts of noise on bats.
