EcologyConservation & Wildlife

This field trip is part of the Botanical Skills Northern Ireland Project and will comprise visits to two Ulster Wildlife reserves. The first reserve is set in the beautiful Glenarm river valley and is a large site with a variety of woodland and grassland habitats. The second reserve at Straidkilly is smaller but has a number of rare species.

Please note, this field meeting is more suited to those with intermediate and advanced botanical skill levels, as the aim of the meeting is to do a fairly complete inventory of the species on both sites and give the attendees experience of an inventory-level survey of representative woodland and grassland habitats.

About Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI)

The BSBI is for everyone who cares about the wild plants of Britain and Ireland. Since 1836, we've been promoting the study, understanding and enjoyment of British and Irish botany. We support all botanists - beginner or expert, amateur or professional - as they identify, record and map what grows where: our data and knowledge underpin evidence-based conservation of the British and Irish flora.
