Course: Monitoring & Evaluation for Wildlife Conservation

WildTeam

Why take this course?

Monitoring and evaluation are essential for assessing if a conservation project is successful or not. Monitoring and evaluation are also important to carry out to report on conservation impact to stakeholders such as donors, communities, and project partners.

Lastly, monitoring and evaluation is needed to understand what works and what does not work in a particular context, to inform and improve the planning of future projects. Monitoring and evaluation, therefore, is a key skill required for many conservation job applications and positions.

Career starters: Improve your chances of getting your dream conservation job by getting a qualification in a required skill for many conservation positions.

Practitioners: Learn how to manage conservation projects more efficiently and in a way that achieves maximum impact.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to plan and report on monitoring and evaluation activities for any type of conservation project.

You will learn how to:

  • Define project success in terms of results, objectives and tolerance limits
  • Set indicators to track progress and assess project success
  • Plan monitoring activities to track changes in the situation
  • Plan evaluation activities to assess how impact was achieved and how much impact was due to the project
  • Report impact using diagrams and charts.

What will my learning experience be like?

WildTeam courses are delivered online and on demand, so you can study in your own time and at your own pace.

You will work through practical course materials, activities, and assessments designed to help you build skills you can apply in real conservation work. Once you have completed the course and passed the required exams, you will receive a certificate to recognise your achievement.

The course contains 26 video lessons, 43 exercises, quizzes and a final exam. We estimate the course will take 15 hours to complete.
