Course: Launching Your Career in Wildlife Conservation
WildTeam
Why take this course?
Everyone who wants to work in wildlife conservation will, at some point, have to find and secure a job. Yet very few people are ever taught how to do this well. A passion for wildlife and a strong conservation background are not enough on their own if you do not know how to identify the right opportunities, present your experience compellingly, or perform at your best in an interview.
Career launching skills matter because the conservation sector is highly competitive, and many of the candidates who miss out are not less capable than those who succeed. They are simply less well prepared for navigating the job search process effectively.
Getting these skills right can be the difference between an application that gets noticed and one that does not, or between an interview that leads to an offer and one that does not. The good news is that these are learnable skills. With the right framework and a structured approach, anyone can significantly improve their chances of building their career and, ultimately, securing their dream conservation job.
What will I learn?
Give yourself the best possible chance of securing your dream conservation job and progressing your career.
You will learn how to:
- Approach your job search with persistence, imagination, and confidence.
- Select a role that will motivate and fulfil you.
- Build a clear career pathway.
- Get yourself ready by assessing and strengthening your capabilities.
- Find the right opportunities by searching across multiple channels.
- Create a focused CV and persuasive cover letter.
- Prepare for interviews.
- Assess an offer, negotiating conditions, and make a well-grounded final decision.
What will my learning experience be like?
WildTeam courses are delivered online and on demand, so you can study in your own time and at your own pace.
You will work through practical course materials, activities, and assessments designed to help you build skills you can apply in real conservation work. Once you have completed the course and passed the required exams, you will receive a certificate to recognise your achievement.
The course contains 28 video lessons, 40 exercises, quizzes and a final exam. We estimate the course will take 21 hours to complete.
