Working for Bradgate Park Trust
Bradgate Park was first enclosed as a deer park around 800 years ago. It provides 830 acres of
publicly accessible countryside close to Leicester City Centre with another 146 acres at Swithland
Wood. Most of the park is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and offers a wild and
rugged landscape with dramatic rocky outcrops and ancient trees. The landscape is home to herds of
red and fallow deer, some of the oldest in-situ fossils in the UK, the ruins of one of the
most important country houses of Tudor England and many species of locally scarce wildlife.
