Area Land Agent
Forestry and Land Scotland
We’re looking for an Area Land Agent to join our South Region team, based at one of our offices in Dumfries, Newton Stewart, Dalbeattie, or Straiton.
The Estates & Renewables team leads on non-forestry commercial activity across Scotland’s national forests and land. This includes renewable energy, land agreements, leases, property transactions and more—supporting FLS’s goal to unlock value and ensure the sustainable management of public land.
As Area Land Agent, you’ll take the lead on managing and developing a wide-ranging rural estate portfolio in South Region, delivering professional land agency services and identifying opportunities to improve income, manage liabilities, and enhance value from agreements, wayleaves, sales, and land use. You’ll also play a key role in regional leadership, supporting business planning and delivering effective integrated working across teams.
To be successful, you’ll need a background in rural surveying or land agency, with experience in estate management, legal interpretation, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll need strong business and financial awareness, a relevant property or land-based degree, and full (or progressing toward) membership of RICS. A full UK driving licence (or equivalent travel arrangement) and the ability to travel across the region are essential. Experience with renewables, utilities, or GIS systems is desirable.
