Director of Youth Programmes
Another Way
We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and empathetic leader to join our team as Director of Youth Programmes, empowering young people across the UK to take climate and environmental action.
You will lead our Youth Engagement Team to work with schools, youth groups, and other charities to grow our community of young people, inspire them to protect our planet, and support them to do so. You will be at the forefront of our unique flagship project, Power of 10, helping Another Way to grow nationally and leading the growth of the first ever digital community for young Changemakers.

Another Way is a charity founded by Amy Bray in 2019, when she was 16 years old. We inspire and empower communities to live with kindness towards our planet. We are youth-led with a multi-generational appeal.
We are scaling fast, particularly as our Power of 10 app grows, extending our community of young Changemakers.
ROLE DETAILS
Programme Development
- Deliver our current outreach strategy and innovate new projects as part of the Power of 10 movement
- Oversee the creation and delivery of solutions-based workshops on climate and nature to schools nationally
- Identify events to attend to showcase Another Way’s work
- Oversee the training of new volunteers and staff to deliver workshops
- Ensure the sound safeguarding strategy of all outreach programmes
- Expand our outreach by creating and implementing strategies to engage teachers, schools, and youth groups
- Ensure our resources and workshops are high-quality and adhere to education best practice
- Support CEO to lead advocacy campaigns
Power of 10 App Community Engagement
- Oversee the strategic development of the online Power of 10 platform
- Oversee the safeguarding of the digital Power of 10 community
- Oversee the moderation of the Power of 10 platform and train staff accordingly
Partnership Relations Building
- Find and create new partnerships with schools, identifying opportunities to maximise our reach and impact
- Manage existing relationships with key stakeholders in environmental education and climate action in schools
- Build new relationships with key partners to deliver our impact and strategy
- Identify new opportunities to join or form partnerships for reaching schools and young people
- Be creative in leveraging unusual partnerships outside of the echo chamber of the environment sector to maximise our reach to diverse young people
- Develop funder relations for our youth programmes
Events and Campaigns
- Organise and coordinate events such as our regional festivals and youth residential
Management
- Manage the Power of 10 team, including staff and volunteers, by setting performance targets, conducting reviews, and delegating tasks
- Report on team progress and performance to CEO
- Set deadlines, work plans, and strategies for new projects and manage timely implementation
- Support CEO and Fundraising Officer in funding applications and programme development
Reporting
- Developing our current impact measurement processes
- Monitoring and evaluating the impact of all education activities
- Regular reporting to the board of trustees and CEOWork with the Digital Marketing Lead to tell stories of the Power of 10 movement

- You are energetic and flexible
- You are great at working with and communicating to young people and have a track record of great education
- You are an empathetic leader and good at supporting others to succeed
- You are passionate about building a youth-led movement
- You can think outside the box to help overcome barriers to reaching young people and teachers
- You are a knowledgeable, or willing to learn, about climate change and environmental issues
- You are great at building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- You are hands-on, solutions-oriented, and well-organised
- You are a team player who can work well independently
- You are a good communicator and have strong presentation skills
- Previous network-building and relationships within environmental education
- You are proactive leader and have the ability to manage ambitious projects
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Prior experience working with a similar position managing national projects or education programmes
- You have experience delivering science communication to schools or young people
- A degree or other qualification in a relevant subject
- Knowledge and understanding of the UK school system and curriculum
- Knowledge of the Department of Education climate and sustainability policy landscape
- Knowledge and demonstrable experience of project management and evaluation
ABOUT THE ROLE
- 34 hours per week flexible working
- 26 days holiday plus UK public holidays, a wellbeing week over winter, and an annual team retreat
- £34,000 – £38,000 starting salary p.a. depending on experience
- Remote working with travel across the UK
