We have an opportunity for a passionate individual to join our Wilder Learning team at the go-to organisation in Essex for formal and informal outdoor learning.
Our Wilder learning team at Essex Wildlife Trust deliver our Nature Tots, School Visits, after school clubs, Forest School, birthday parties, school holiday activities and events for children and families across Essex. We provide opportunities for children to safely learn outdoors in the natural environment to promote independence and confidence, be playful, curious and to inspire a lifelong love of nature.
As a Wilder Learning Intern, you will gain skills and experience to deliver wildlife and nature-based programmes to a diverse range of audiences. Working alongside our passionate Wilder learning Officers, you will be mentored under the support of an Education and Community Engagement Manager in the delivery of formal and informal outdoor education and play.
During the internship, you will be involved in the planning and delivering of events including evaluating for financial and impact reports and ensuring continuous development and improvements to the programmes.
This internship is well suited to those who are looking for a career in outdoor learning and education (in all weather). It is essential that applicants hold a BSc Degree or HND in Ecology, Conservation, Environmental or related fields (or equivalent) and is passionate about wildlife, nature and providing age-appropriate engaging activities within a safe environment for a charity that protects wildlife for the future and people of Essex. A Forest School qualification is desirable.
We have one internship available commencing Autumn 2025 on a one year fixed-term contract. The position is a full-time role working 37.5 hours over five days each week. The position will be based at Abbotts Hall with delivery at sites across North Essex. The starting salary is £23,809.50 per annum.
