Conservation & Wildlife

Are you passionate about nature and looking to make a real impact on Yorkshire’s wild spaces? Join one of the UK’s fastest-growing nature conservation charities as a Project Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our North Project team and to undertake landscape and catchment-scale habitat restoration and creation across Yorkshire. As Project Officer you will primarily support delivery of crayfish projects with the opportunity to support other projects within the team.

You will plan and manage Yorkshire Crayfish Forum’s Annual and Steering Group meetings. Working closely with Forum members on communications and engagement strategies, and in developing new projects and securing funding, you will support the delivery of the 5-year Delivery Plan. This will include organising and supporting public engagement events and activities to raise awareness of the project's value, managing delegated projects and budgets, maintaining strong relationships with funders and stakeholders, and ensuring timely reporting. You’ll also be recruiting and supporting volunteers, coordinating surveys and biosecurity events, and delivering on-the-ground interventions in partnership with landowners and contractors. You will also assist with record keeping of interventions and surveys and input into the projects GIS mapping.

You’ll need excellent knowledge of river and wetland habitats and species, and enjoy undertaking regular, hands-on physical work. Self-motivated and well-organised, you’ll be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and confident in engaging with stakeholders, volunteers, and contractors.

Closing date: 14 September 2025 (midnight)

Interview date: 29 September 2025 (in person)

Please note that applications received after the closing deadline may not be considered. The Trust regrets that it is unable to give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
