Established in 2012, Green Fox Community Energy (Green Fox) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Leicester and Leicestershire. We facilitate community ownership of renewable energy, while promoting the rollout of energy efficiency measures and low-carbon technologies.

Green Fox empowers community groups to lead their own projects, developing their skills, resilience, and confidence along the way. This role offers the opportunity to build close working relationships with innovative, driven, and inspiring groups throughout Leicester and Leicestershire.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and talented individual to help us grow community energy in Leicester and Leicestershire. With an emphasis on energy efficiency, you will support community groups and volunteers to develop and deliver community energy projects in their own neighbourhoods. You’ll play a key role in building knowledge, confidence and capacity within communities, and supporting them to take forward practical projects that save energy, cut bills, and contribute to tackling the climate crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide advice, guidance and hands-on support to community groups and volunteers to design and deliver energy efficiency and community energy projects.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
• Organise and deliver workshops, meetings, and events to raise awareness of community energy opportunities.
• Help communities identify funding opportunities and develop funding bids or business cases.
• Work collaboratively with Green Fox, Community Energy Pathways, and local authority partners, and other community energy organisations to maximise impact and reach.
• Gather and report data and case studies to demonstrate the impact of the work.
• Stay informed about relevant policy developments, funding streams, and best practice in community energy and energy efficiency.

The hours for this role will be varied. It may include some Saturday or evening work.

The role will require travelling in Leicestershire.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Permission to work in the UK
• Full driving licence or other ways of fulfilling the travel requirements of the job
• Experience in energy advisory, community outreach, housing, or similar
• Good understanding of energy efficiency and/or renewable energy technologies
• Experience of delivering projects/initiatives that aim to empower communities
• Experience of recruiting and developing ongoing relationships with volunteers
• Ability to build partnerships and foster collaboration across different cultural contexts
• Strong IT skills, use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel databases, Outlook) and social media platforms
• Ability to contribute to Green Fox’s broader community plans and evaluations

Desirable:

• Knowledge of co-production; with experience an advantage
• Knowledge of the local area and existing community networks in Leicester and Leicestershire.
• Prior experience of writing funding bids or project proposals
