Do you have a passion for food, farming and the natural environment?

FWAG SW provides environmental advice to farmers and landowners on a wide range of agricultural, conservation, soil and water management issues. We are seeking a new Farm Environment Adviser to join our Gloucestershire team and are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have knowledge of diffuse water pollution and soil management, within an agricultural setting. This post has responsibilities to provide high-quality advice and support for farmers in a whole-farm context; considering resource protection, habitat and species conservation, soil and nutrient management, compliance to legislation and regulation, protection of archaeological features and landscape value – all as part of a profitable farm business.

With growing demand for our services, which include providing advice to farmers on agroecological practices to help build resilience to climate change, we seek applicants who can also bring their own specialisms and experience to strengthen our team.

You will be responsible for delivery of one-to-one farm visits, events and workshops, plus the preparation of reports and news articles. The role requires both desk-based activities and time spent on farm/site visits, sometimes as part of a team, sometimes individually. The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery and outputs of existing projects, and, where appropriate, project management, partnership working and the development of new projects, with support from managers and colleagues.

If the above interests you and you have excellent interpersonal skills, are educated to degree level and/or can demonstrate appropriate professional experience, we would love to hear from you.

We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities within the sector, whether that is environment and wildlife, soils, nutrients, farm infrastructure, farm management, cropping, livestock, Integrated Pest Management, GIS and mapping. We are an open and inclusive organisation seeking to improve the diversity of our workforce.
