Main purpose and scope of the job
The Waste Management Consultant is part of Vegware’s Environmental Team and is responsible for supporting the roll out of Vegware’s best practice waste solutions, using this knowledge to drive sales growth and strengthen the value associated with the Vegware brand.
The Environmental Team plays a key role in supporting the Sales Team by providing expert waste management advice to customers and at client meetings, helping to secure new business. By developing and maintaining close working relationships with waste partners, we safeguard and expand composting access for our customers, enabling them to “close the loop”.
At Vegware we work to support our 9001 Quality & 14001 Environmental ISO standards as well as our B Corporation status.
Reports To: Senior Waste Management Consultant
Location: Home-based, requiring regular travel to client sites, predominantly across the M4 corridor and West Midlands.
Duties and key responsibilities
Vegware brand, business development and client support
- Proactively identify and act upon opportunities to drive and retain Vegware product sales through closed loop opportunities.
- Sales support – participate in joint meetings and presentations, guide on key target areas in line with waste knowledge.
- Grow number of closed loop sites in line with Vegware’s KPI’s
- Develop targeted location or sector-specific projects to raise awareness of Vegware's composting support.
- Tailored waste consultancy - advise on best solution for used Vegware and guide customers through Vegware’s ‘5 steps to composting’ framework.
- Respond to environmental enquiries and contribute to Vegware’s knowledge base to deliver best practice and excellent customer service.
- Represent the Vegware brand at industry events through public speaking and networking.
Waste sector knowledge and relationships
- Key liaison with organics recycling sector, maintaining knowledge base of, and driving forward closed loop solutions for Vegware products
- Manage relationships with key waste sector partners
- Keep informed of developments within the organics recycling sector which are relevant to Vegware.
- Work towards CIWM Chartership

Experience
- Experience within the waste and/or environmental sector
- Experience in environmental education and engagement
- Experience of public speaking and presenting
- Sales experience desirable
Knowledge
- Degree-level qualification in Environmental Science or Sustainability.
- Understanding of waste management, preferably with a focus on organics recycling.
Other requirements
- Genuine passion for the environment
- Willingness to undertake public speaking
- Frequent travel to client and waste partner meetings (including overnight stays)
- Occasional travel to our Edinburgh office
