Administrator - International

Are you a natural organiser? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills and play your part in saving nature!
Would you like to work for an organisation that delivers international conservation? Or perhaps kick start your conservation career by supporting international conservation staff with their administrative needs. We very much welcome conservation career starters!
Do you thrive on helping others, proactively solving problems and a varied working day?
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Administrator to join the International Department within the Global Conservation Directorate. In this dynamic role, you’ll provide vital administrative support across several key teams with time split between Harapan Rainforest, Gola Rainforest, East Atlantic Flyway, Altyn Dala/Kazakh Steppe, and International Marine, for example. Some staff are based in the UK but some are based across the World.
Although this role is primarily home-based, there will be a requirement to attend the RSPB’s headquarters in Sandy, Bedfordshire and Cambridge Conservation Initiative David Attenborough Building each month. Therefore, we envisage that the successful applicant will be based within a one hour commute from Sandy and Cambridge. Additionally, occasional travel to other locations may be necessary to provide in-person support for meetings and events.
You will play a central role in keeping our teams running smoothly, working closely with the PA to the International Director. Your responsibilities will include:
- Arranging complex international travel, visas and accommodation for staff, volunteers and BirdLife Partners.
- Arranging and supporting meetings online and occasionally in person. There is the opportunity to attend and support our conservation programme boards.
- Assisting with management of IT equipment.
- Onboarding of new staff.
- Administration of financial processes and procurement.
- Using Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint to keep everything organised and accessible.
- Being administrative support for the RSPB office at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative David Attenborough Building.
- Assisting with the running of the Binoculars Donation Scheme
We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, flexible, and solutions-focused. You’ll be confident juggling multiple tasks, building strong working relationships, and handling sensitive information with discretion.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications and tools, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of financial terminology and processes.
- Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Able to communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of UK and international people whether by phone, video, email or in person.
- Able to organise and coordinate all aspects of meetings and events logistics.
- Able to prioritise tasks effectively, particularly when under pressure from competing priorities.
- Experience of working in an office or customer care environment in an administrative role.
- A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience booking international travel.
- Interest in and knowledge of conservation and the natural world.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint Online.
- Experience of working with volunteers.
Additional Information:
This is a permanent role, part-time for 3 days a week (22.5 hours).
Interview date(s) are to be confirmed. For further information please contact [email protected].
As part of this application process you will be asked to complete an application form including evidence on how you meet the skills, knowledge, and experience listed above.
