About us

Dialogue Earth is an independent non-profit dedicated to producing exceptional environmental journalism and informed conversations on urgent climate and sustainability topics. Our unique model brings local voices to global audiences and global stories of hope, action, and change to local communities.

Dialogue Earth researches, writes, commissions, edits, and publishes news reports and analyses of environmental and climate threats, to stimulate the exchange of information and ideas between readers in diverse geographies.

We are committed to accurately portraying China’s development impacts across the Global South through geopolitically even-handed reporting and constructive dialogue. A UK-registered charity headquartered in London, our approach is rooted in a network of specialist country editors located across South and Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and delivered through reporting in eight languages, workshops, and media partnerships. We seek to bring light, rather than heat, to crucial debates, and solutions to bear on complex problems.

Purpose of the role

Help shape the global conversation on cleaner industry. The Industry Transition editor is a new role at Dialogue Earth. You’ll launch and lead a project looking at green steel and industrial decarbonisation, with a pilot phase running to October 2026 that has scope to grow. From day one, you’ll map key stakeholders and media across China, Latin America, Africa and South Asia. You’ll then turn those insights into a focused editorial strategy that informs decisions and positively influences the public debate.

You’ll commission and write timely, engaging stories that reach our priority audiences in China, Brazil, India and South Africa – the initial focus of this project. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across our teams, making the most of their regional and country expertise. You’ll also launch a bespoke newsletter to build a community around the beat – sharing relevant stories and insights, and connecting journalists, policymakers and industry practitioners.

We’re looking for someone proactive, organised and self-motivated. You’ll be ready to cultivate a strong network of sources and contributors, and to identify opportunities for high-impact coverage.. You’ll bring a deep grasp of industrial decarbonisation – its opportunities, challenges and developments – and you’ll share our commitment to accuracy and constructive global dialogue.
