Location: Cheshire (Home-based with travel)
Salary £23,500 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility required (some evening & weekend work)
Contract: Temporary, 12 months

Mersey Rivers Trust is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join our Cheshire team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

You’ll lead and support a variety of environmental projects including river restoration, invasive species control, wetland creation, and Natural Flood Management schemes. You’ll also work closely with farmers, landowners, volunteers, and schools to deliver meaningful change across the Mersey Catchment.

About You

  • Has experience in environmental project delivery, ideally in river or catchment management.
  • Is confident engaging with stakeholders, communities, and volunteers.
  • Can manage contractors, monitor project progress, and contribute to reporting and funding bids.
  • Is self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently from home.
  • Holds a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the catchment.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with GIS, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of farming practices and experience working with contractors and volunteers.

As a member of the national Rivers Trust movement, it is the Rivers Trust for the River Mersey and its catchment. The Mersey Rivers Trust formed from the merger of the Healthy Rivers Trust and the Mersey Basin Rivers Trust. The Trust hosts 3 Catchment Partnerships under the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) and will proactively engage with local communities, land owners, regulators and other stakeholders to help clean up the rivers in the Mersey Catchment.
