The team

The insight & evaluation team is integral to the data, research and content the Energy Saving Trust produces. The work the team does is hugely varied from calculating the savings that can be achieved through making energy efficiency changes, to modelling the impact of new technologies to providing content for energy efficiency training to researching consumers attitudes towards government policy and assessing the impact that programmes deliver.

The team work individually on projects but also work closely together sharing ideas and working through complex problems or scenarios ensuring that knowledge sharing, and knowledge development is at the forefront of everything we do.

Working within the team and at the Energy Saving Trust more broadly will allow you to use your experience and skills, whilst improving your knowledge and having the space and opportunity to grow within a friendly, supportive team.

The role 

We are seeking a senior consultant to develop and deliver high quality evaluation and research projects. You will work closely with colleagues in the insight and evaluation team, across the business, and with external clients.

What you’ll do 

  • Develop and implement a work plan for evaluating and reporting on Energy Saving Trust activities.
  • Provide technical expertise on research and evaluation methodologies.
  • Support the development of new evaluation and research opportunities, designing suitable methodologies and identifying resource requirements.
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with key clients in government and the wider public and private sector, potential partners, and across Energy Saving Trust.
  • Work with others in the insight and evaluation team to ensure ongoing, existing evaluations feed into the overall Energy Saving Trust reporting.
  • Maintain and develop excellent knowledge of developments in evaluation and research methods relevant to Energy Saving Trusts work and mission.
  • Support junior team members and advise Energy Saving Trust colleagues drawing on your specialist knowledge

What you’ll bring 

  • Knowledge and experience of using evaluation and research techniques at a high calibre, including logic models, various types of sampling, data collection, a bank of analytical techniques, statistical tests, and other research tools.
  • Experience of designing appropriate evaluation or research methodologies which cover various types of quantitative and qualitative data and analysis
  • Experience of developing new proposals for research and evaluation projects according to client specifications
  • Experience of managing multiple research and evaluation projects for internal or external clients
  • Analytical skills including analysis of qualitative data and use of packages such as Excel, R or SPSS
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to take responsibility for own work, self-reliant and self-motivated
  • Demonstrable ability to act with integrity and always display high professional standards
