Made possible with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, our partnership project, Connecting People and Landscapes (CPL) in a Changing Climate, brings together farmers, landowners and communities across the South West and beyond to create a more resilient landscape in the face of climate change.
We are now looking for a Community Collaboration and Outreach Officer to join us on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, for a four year fixed-term contract. We are also open to candidates who can work between two and three days per week, job share proposals, and other flexible working requests, as well as secondment requests from people currently employed in a VCSE organisation.
The project is based in Devon and will require significant time working across the south and east of the county. This post can be home-based (if your circumstances can support this), but the use of office locations within Devon may be available.

The Role
As a Community Collaboration and Outreach Officer, you’ll play a leading role in delivering the CPL Project, helping rural communities rediscover their connection to biodiversity, regenerative farming, and the landscapes that sustain them.
Working across the project area, you’ll collaborate with farmers, landowners, volunteers, and local groups to deliver activities, training, and events that celebrate and protect local wildlife.
You’ll design and run workshops, farm open days, and citizen science initiatives, ensuring that everyone, especially those in underserved and rural communities, has the opportunity to learn, participate, and make a difference.
Additionally, you will:
- Deliver engaging outreach campaigns
- Plan and administer small community grants to support local initiatives
- Build strong partnerships with community, youth, and volunteer groups
- Manage budgets, report on project progress, and ensure risk management procedures are followed
About You
To be considered as a Community Collaboration and Outreach Officer, you will need:
- Experience of working with underrepresented communities
- Experience of running events
- Experience of providing training for volunteers
- Experience of dealing with a range of people, including volunteers
- An understanding of the impacts of climate change on wildlife and how to convey this to a range of audiences
- A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (for frequent and extensive travel within the project area to locations not served by public transport)
This role will require a basic DBS check.
