A unique opportunity to join a successful and growing conservation charity!

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) has a unique opportunity to help save rare bumblebee species in southeast London. We’re looking for a passionate conservationist with proven experience in urban habitat delivery. You’ll be committed to inclusive community engagement and confident in communicating key messages to a wide range of audiences.

Our exciting project ‘Buzzing in the East End (B.E.E) – Southeast London’ aims to work with local communities to inspire action for threatened bumblebees. This project is possible thanks to the generous support from The National Lottery Fund, Kusuma Trust UK, and Pennington Law.

As Project Officer, your primary role will be to work with existing and new flagship sites and community hubs to design and implement habitat creation for bumblebees. You will provide training in bumblebee identification and flower surveys, and lead a series of engaging workshops with facilitators to increase public awareness of bumblebee conservation – alongside activities which promote wellbeing.

A key focus of the role is inclusive engagement. You will work closely with underrepresented groups and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) partners to foster awareness and encourage meaningful action for bumblebees.

Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role.

This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week. Some overtime work may be required and a flexitime system is in place.

This post will be employed on a fixed-term basis until March 2029. The position is home-based and working across four boroughs of South East London (Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham and Bromley).

The Trust is an Equal Opportunities employer. This means that whilst seeking employment or during such employment with the Trust, we will seek to ensure equality of treatment for all persons regardless of sex, race, age, marital or civil partnership status, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity status.

At the Trust, we have a clear goal: to be the place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come, to stay and do their best work. We pride ourselves on reaching for our vision, through the hard work and dedication of our passionate and creative employees.
