This is an exciting opportunity to join the Public Rights of Way and Country Parks team at Devon County Council. We are recruiting for a Public Rights of Way Officer to join our Definitive Map and technical team, playing a key part in managing one of the UK’s most popular rights of way and access networks. 

With excellent opportunities to work flexibly, you will be part of a team of specialist officers based at our Exeter office, helping to support and deliver for health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and economic vitality. 

Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification and with experience in public access, countryside management and/or transferable regulatory functions, you will have a proven ability to influence and innovate, and to understand a diverse range of regulations, laws, requirements and evidence. 

Key areas of focus include making sure that the legal record of public rights of way is accurate, up-to-date, and publicly available; investigating claims and assessing evidence for modifying the Definitive Map; and making and publishing legal Orders to modify the PROW network.
