About Stour Environmental Credits

We are a collaboration between Ashford Borough Council and Canterbury City Council. The company is controlled by a Board of Directors and is registered at Companies House. The company has been established to manage nutrient neutrality credits in the River Stour catchment area of Kent. This catchment covers large parts of the districts of Ashford and neighbouring Canterbury, plus some of the surrounding boroughs. The company has been set up to satisfy nutrient neutrality rules in the River Stour catchment area, enabling thousands of much-needed new homes to be built. Stour Environmental Credits will source the mitigation that is required to get the stalled housing market moving in the River Stour catchment area of both authorities. It will enable the buying and selling of mitigation credits to developers, enabling them to demonstrate that their housing schemes are nutrient neutral and can proceed.
