Senior Participation Officer
Plantlife
About the role
This post will enable us to develop our models for local participation across the UK, starting with two of Plantlife’s nature reserves; Ranscombe Farm in Kent, and Three Hagges Woodmeadow near York. The post will provide opportunity to explore new ways of working and take learning into our other reserves and places where we are taking local action.
At Ranscombe Farm and Three Hagges Woodmeadow reserves we have longstanding relationships with the local community, and a desire to build upon these, enabling more and a wider range of people to access them, benefit from them, and contribute to their conservation.
This is a fixed-term 3-year contract with the first 15 months focussing on the delivery of the Ranscombe Connect project, which has been made possible with the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage.
About you
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic person who has the skills and confidence to build relationships with existing and potential stakeholders quickly and effectively.
You will have an excellent understanding of community work and the motivations and needs of volunteers. A skilled and experienced facilitator, you will have the flexibility of approach and diplomacy needed to co-design and deliver elements of the participation offer at Plantlife’s key locations.
You will enjoy making things happen - having ideas and seeing them through to delivery and evaluation. You will be able to think strategically about how you can apply learning from one context to Plantlife’s other places of interest.
You will be prepared to travel regularly as required by the role. This may include overnight stays.
