Contract: Fixed term of three years with good possibility of extension
Hours: 37.5-hours per week Monday to Friday. Working hours between 8am-6pm.
Based: Largely home based with a minimum of two days a month working from our head office in Darlington. Some travel to local authorities, events and meetings in the UK will be required.

Role Overview
The Business Director will play a pivotal role in driving Modeshift’s strategic growth, operational efficiency, customer growth and retention, and stakeholder engagement. This role combines commercial acumen with a passion for sustainability and behaviour change, ensuring Modeshift continues to deliver high-impact programmes and services.
The postholder will contribute to the strategic direction and vision across Modeshift’s annual 12 objectives.
Once quantified outcomes and budgets are agreed, the postholder will be fully accountable for individual Delivery Plans for each workstream of Modeshift, including outcomes, cost, activities and reporting.
The postholder will be responsible for the quality standards across the workstreams improving customer experience and exploring and exploiting new behaviour change and accreditation ideas and opportunities.
What you need for this position
- Experience, at a senior level, of planning and managing a portfolio of customer facing programmes and services
- Experience of developing, leading, and expanding programmes and schemes
- Significant programme delivery and result focussed experience
- Senior level managerial skills with experience of managing a high performing team of staff
- An eye for budget and strategy delivery, great at forming relationships, presenting, reporting and general planning and organising
- Significant experience and knowledge of sustainable travel delivery and best practice, including national standards for Travel Plans and the Modeshift STARS accreditation scheme
