Introduction

We are looking for a Visitor Experience Manager to join our team. RSPB Saltholme is located on the Tees Estuary and includes important areas of lowland wetland grassland, reedbed, and intertidal habitats. Key species include Lapwing, Avocet, Common Tern, and Bittern. A colony of Harbour Seals breed on the site. As Visitor Experience Manager you will lead a team to deliver high quality events and create engaging content for social media.

What's the role about?

We're looking for an inspiring and creative manager with excellent people skills combined with a passion for connecting people with nature. Working at RSPB Saltholme, you'll be providing a unique and fascinating visitor experience inspiring our visitors to support nature conservation now and in the future. With over 60,000 visitors a year and a thriving membership recruitment operation, RSPB Saltholme is a key site for connecting people with nature.

You will be working with the Visitor Experience Team and volunteers to ensure a coherent visitor offer is delivered whilst also working with the HQ team to ensure the highest quality of RSPB visitor experience. The ideal candidates will have strong communicating skills, proven experience at delivering events and a high standard of visitor experience and marketing - if that's you we'd love to hear from you!

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Computer literate to include professional use of social media to adhere to brand requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • A natural leader who can motivate and inspire people at all levels.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
  • Experience of planning and delivering a high-quality visitor offer.
  • Successful experience of managing a team of staff and/or volunteers.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Working knowledge of Equal Opportunities and Diversity

This is a 12 month Fixed-Term / Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.

The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
