Freelance Lead Session Worker (Self-employed)

ecoACTIVE is a caring, and supportive organisation to work for. We are a small team (currently six members of staff), guided by a dedicated group of Trustees, and assisted by freelance session workers and volunteers.

We are recruiting for a Lead Session Worker, to join ecoACTIVE’s education team in delivering sustainability education and/or outdoor/Forest School workshops at schools, or in community settings (e.g. adventure playgrounds).

The role will involve:

• Leading sustainability workshops across London (on an adhoc basis) and delivering a six month sustainability education project in three Folkestone primary schools (roughly one day per week until July 2026)
• Leading or supporting outdoor learning/forest school sessions, with learners from Early Years, primary and secondary age groups
• Being able to provide effective teaching and support for learners, including occasionally learners with a range of neurodiverse needs during sessions
• Supporting ecoACTIVE volunteers and other session workers during workshops and community events (when leading sessions)
• Assisting with administration tasks may be occasionally required

Hours: Variable. We need support delivering a six month project in Folkestone, roughly one day per week until mid-July 2026. We also get other ad hoc school bookings across London and surrounding counties, which we need support leading. This role is best suited to someone who already has part-time work or who has the flexibility to take on both ad-hoc and regular sessions, without needing a long-term, fixed timetable.

Requirements: For the Folkestone project the successful candidate will travel to Folkestone roughly one day per week until July 2026. ecoACTIVE will cover public transport costs and travel time (within limits that will be discussed).

Remuneration: £19.00 per hour. While we are recruiting a session Leader, we may also need help supporting sessions. The Support session worker rate is £16.50 per hour. Please, specify in the application if you’d be happy to support sessions too or only lead them.
