Are you passionate about rivers, nature, and making a real difference? The Great Ouse Rivers Trust is seeking an exceptional leader to help shape the future of one of the UK’s newest Rivers Trusts.
About the Role
As our Trust Development Manager, you’ll lead the next stage of our evolution—managing day-to-day operations, providing strategic leadership, and building strong partnerships. You’ll be at the heart of our mission to protect and enhance the Great Ouse, the UK’s fifth-longest river, supporting communities, wildlife, and the wider environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the delivery of our Establishment Plan, aligning all activities with our vision and values
- Lead project development and delivery, from chalk stream restoration to community engagement
- Secure new funding and manage relationships with donors and partners
- Oversee financial management, reporting, and compliance
- Recruit, develop, and support staff and volunteers
- Strengthen our visibility and impact through effective communications and stakeholder engagement
What We’re Looking For
We need someone with:
- Experience ideally in the charity or not-for-profit sector
- Skills in coaching, mentoring, and developing teams
- Knowledge of river catchments and a background in nature conservation projects are a plus.
- Experience in fundraising, grant management, and partnership building
- Strong digital literacy and communication skills
- Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
Opportunity for Professional Development
At an early stage in development, the Trust’s size and the post holder’s role will provide extensive opportunities to develop a range of skills and gain experience. The intention is to make the role permanent, subject to funding availability. You will be supported through both external and on-the-job training. We are interested in receiving and considering applications from applicants who may not tick every box. You may be just who we are looking for!
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a dynamic, values-driven organisation at a transformative time
- Work with an active, experienced Board and engaged partners
- Enjoy flexible working arrangements and professional development opportunities
- Help us create lasting environmental and community impact
