Bird Warden / General Assistant
Lundy Island
This is a new split role which divides time between Bird Observatory duties and the island's day to day operational requirements.
It’s expected that during the summer season, the bird warden will spend approximately 2 days spread over the week with Bird Observatory duties and 3 days spread over the week with General Assistant duties. During the winter season, it’s expected that the bird warden will spend approx. 1 day per week on Bird Observatory duties and 4 days per week on General Assistant duties. Additionally, in January, additional time will be factored in for report writing during the island’s maintenance closure.
However, as this is a new role, a degree of flexibility will be required with the split of duties to ensure that the operational needs of both the island and Bird Observatory are met. It’s expected that regular reviews will be conducted to assess as the position evolves.
The Bird warden will be supported by a summer seasonal volunteer, who it’s expected will conduct the daily census.
