Bore Place Ranger
Commonwork Trust
As part of our People and Nature Together programme - made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund - we run outdoor learning, citizen science, nature events, skills training, and practical habitat restoration across the estate. We closely monitor six key indicator species (earthworms, dragonflies/damselflies, common blue butterflies, skylarks, reptiles, and dormice) to help guide our long-term nature recovery work.
About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and skilled ranger to help put nature at the heart of everything we do. You’ll combine hands-on conservation work with community engagement, playing a vital role in improving habitats, supporting wildlife, and inspiring others to connect with the natural world.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out practical habitat management and monitoring across Bore Place in line with our habitat management plans.
- Lead, supervise, and support volunteers, work experience participants, external groups, and educational sessions in land-based activities.
- Conduct ecological surveys, monitor wildlife, and report findings.
- Ensure compliance with wildlife conservation laws and best practices.
- Support the development of our community garden and wider people-and-nature activities.
- Assist with on-site events and promotional activities.
- Work in line with all Health & Safety legislation, completing risk assessments and safety plans.
- Comply with relevant legal requirements including fire safety, food hygiene, COSHH and other statutory regulations.
