Urban Ecology Activity Leader

Role Summary
We are seeking an Urban Ecology Activity Leader (2-year fixed-term contract) to support Cody Dock’s Urban Ecology programme by coordinating, delivering, and supporting volunteers in habitat management, species monitoring, and practical ecological activities.
Working under the Urban Ecology Project Manager and alongside the Biodiversity Officer, you will ensure volunteer activities are safe, inclusive, and effective whilst ensuring the collection of robust, high-quality ecological data and effective habitat management.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, induct, and support volunteers and trainees.
- Plan and deliver volunteer sessions, ecology workdays, and other practical ecology activities.
- Support ecological surveys and data collection.
- Maintain volunteer records and contribute to programme monitoring.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent in ecology or environmental science.
- Knowledge and skills in the life histories and monitoring of UK birds and terrestrial invertebrates.
- Experience coordinating, delivering, or leading volunteers in practical ecological work.
- Understanding of urban ecology and conservation challenges.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and skills in the life histories and monitoring of UK bats, aquatic invertebrates, or urban habitats.
- Outdoor First Aid qualification.
