£35,412 - £39,152 per annum (with Essential Car User Allowance)
We are seeking a highly motivated Tree Officer to provide arboricultural advice within the planning service where you will administer Tree Preservation Orders, determine applications for works to protected trees, and advise on development proposals affecting trees. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on our natural environment.
You will work primarily in the Wychavon area, and will be responsible for:
- Assessing and determining applications for works to protected trees and hedgerows
- Preparing and serving Tree Preservation Orders
- Advising on development proposals and planning applications involving trees
- Investigating breaches of tree and hedgerow legislation
- Supporting and advising on tree planting schemes, carbon reduction initiatives, and habitat enhancement
You’ll be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team that sits within the Planning service and includes landscape ecologists, project officers, heritage and archaeology specialists, and urban designers—working together to shape sustainable, resilient places.
To be successful you will have a minimum Higher National Diploma in Arboriculture (level 5) or equivalent, significant professional experience and a thorough understanding of tree and planning-related legislation. You’ll have sound judgement, will be confident conducting site visits and working independently, and will provide clear professional advice to a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
