About the role

Opportunities exist for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our Water Quality Services team in a laboratory orientated role. We have an extensive network of monitoring equipment delivering real-time data to a range of customers from private sector to government agencies. Working primarily in the laboratory you will be responsible for ensuring that our network is serviced and maintained to a high standard.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Assembling, configuring and testing water quality monitoring equipment prior to deployment to ensure all systems meet performance, quality and safety standards.
  • Carrying out routine and non-routine calibration, cleaning and servicing of water quality instrumentation in accordance with established procedures and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintaining accurate calibration records and service log documentation to support data integrity and traceability.
  • Collating, validating and interpreting water quality data from a network of monitoring equipment, identifying trends, anomalies or potential issues with instrumentation or data quality.
  • Supporting the ongoing maintenance and reliability of Meteor’s monitoring network by diagnosing equipment faults and assisting with troubleshooting and repairs where required.
  • Preparing equipment for redeployment, storage or transport, ensuring all components are clean, functional and appropriately packaged.
  • Working closely with colleagues in the Water Quality Services team to coordinate workloads, meet service deadlines and support operational priorities.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams and, where required, external stakeholders to provide updates on equipment status, data quality or servicing requirements.
  • Adhering to laboratory health, safety and quality procedures at all times, contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory practices and processes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work both as part of a team and independently, remaining self-motivated.
  • A qualification in an environmental science or similar area or have equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage workload and prioritise work requests.

And a bonus if you have:

  • Knowledge/experience of working in a laboratory or similar environment.
  • Some experience within the environmental sector.

The successful candidate will receive relevant training. The role will initially be based in Aldermaston, Berkshire. Working hours for the role are Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 3.30pm.
