Landscaping Operatives - Environmental Projects

The Role
As a Landscaping Operative, you will play a key role in delivering soft landscaping, environmental improvement and nature-based solutions on site. Working under the direction of Site Supervisors and Managers, you will be involved in the practical construction and maintenance of landscapes that support biodiversity, sustainability and climate resilience.
Projects may include habitat creation, planting, groundworks associated with landscaping, river and wetland works, fencing, pathways and site restoration.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations & Delivery
- Carry out landscaping and environmental works safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Undertake tasks such as planting, turfing, seeding, fencing, minor groundworks and site finishing
- Assist with site set-up, housekeeping and demobilisation
- Operate hand tools, power tools and plant safely (where trained and authorised)
- Follow RAMS, CPPs and company safe systems of work at all times
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, fellow operatives and subcontractors
- Support delivery of works in line with programme and quality requirements
Health, Safety, Quality & Environment
- Comply fully with HSE, CDM 2015 and company HSQE standards
- Attend site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings
- Promote a positive safety culture, including reporting hazards and near misses
- Work in an environmentally responsible manner, protecting sensitive habitats and surrounding areas
Teamworking & Conduct
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude on site
- Follow instructions and contribute to a supportive team environment
- Represent the company positively when interacting with clients, landowners and the public
Personal Qualities & Experience
- Previous experience as a Landscaping Operative, Groundsworker or Site Operative
- Experience in soft landscaping, environmental or ecological works is highly desirable
- Good understanding of site safety and safe systems of work
- Reliable, hardworking and proactive approach
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Genuine interest in environmental, ecological or sustainable construction projects
Qualifications
Essential
- CSCS Card (appropriate to role)
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- CPCS / NPORS plant tickets
- First Aid at Work
- Experience working in environmentally sensitive or ecological sites
