Conservation & Wildlife

Arcadia is a family philanthropy that works to conserve and restore nature, record cultural heritage and promote open access to knowledge. You will be part of our Nature team, managing a portfolio of around ten high-profile grants with a total value of around $50m. There will be some opportunities to develop proposals for new grants and renewals under the guidance of the Director of Nature. You will be part of a small expert team managing Arcadia, Lund Trust and other family grant-making.

You must

  • have conducted and communicated academically-rigorous independent research, ideally through a higher research degree or equivalent experience;
  • have experience of analysing and summarising quantitative and qualitative data and applying critical thinking;
  • have knowledge of either large-scale conservation and habitat restoration outside the UK, marine conservation or conservation planning;
  • be good at managing multiple tasks and balancing short-term and long-term objectives;
  • be able to present and write clearly and concisely for different audiences;
  • be comfortable advising senior decision-makers and responding to their questions;
  • have experience of living and working outside the UK;
  • be fluent in English and preferably at least one other language; and
  • have the right to work in the UK.

We encourage applications from people with an academic background in the humanities (especially history of science or historical geography). Previous grant-making experience is not required.
