About rePLANET

RePLANET is rebuilding nature. We are a global leader in the design and delivery of large-scale nature restoration projects. By unlocking private sector funding through carbon and biodiversity credits, we create projects that not only restore ecosystems but also generate significant social co-benefits for communities worldwide.

With projects already underway across Central and South America (including Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina), as well as Southeast Asia (Indonesia & the Philippines) rePLANET is at the forefront of building scalable solutions for nature restoration. Our expertise and project development is recognised worldwide, making us a leading actor in this critical and fast-moving sector. As our global portfolio grows, we are strengthening our technical capabilities in carbon accounting, soil science, and MRV to ensure our projects remain best-in-class in the voluntary carbon market.

About the Role

The Carbon MRV Manager is a senior technical role within rePLANET’s Project Design & MRV team, responsible for leading the design, planning, and delivery of robust carbon MRV strategies across our VM0042 (grassland/agroforestry) and VM0047 (reforestation) projects, with future scope to support blue carbon (VM0033) projects. The Carbon MRV Manager role will act as the central MRV lead for biomass and soil carbon, building a coherent, scalable MRV framework that can be applied across multiple projects and archetypes.

This role combines deep methodological expertise (Verra VCS is essential) with practical soil/biomass MRV experience and a strong focus on standardisation, automation, and data systems. The Carbon MRV Manager will work closely with Forestry, Agronomy, Geospatial and Blue Carbon specialists to ensure that MRV design is scientifically rigorous, operationally feasible, and aligned with evolving market and standard-setter expectations.

Initially, the Carbon MRV Manager will operate within the Project Design and MRV department as a senior individual contributor with limited direct reports, but as the portfolio of projects and project archetypes grows, the Carbon MRV Manager will be instrumental in assembling and shaping a consolidated Carbon MRV unit dedicated to design, planning and delivery of high-quality Carbon MRV across the whole portfolio or rePLANET projects.

Key responsibilities

MRV Strategy Design and Delivery (VM0042 & VM0047)

  • Leading end-to-end design, planning, and implementation of Carbon MRV strategies for VM0042 projects (primarily SOC but also supporting integration of MRV strategies for Biomass and Emissions).
  • Support the design, planning, and implementation of MRV strategies for VM0047 reforestation/ARR projects, working closely with Forestry and Carbon Analysts.
  • Define sampling designs, monitoring protocols, and data requirements for soil, biomass, and activity data, ensuring compliance with Verra VCS methodologies and project-specific conditions.
  • Supporting the different teams within Project Design and MRV department in developing and delivering robust ex-ante and ex-post GHG accounting frameworks (including baselines, project scenarios, leakage, uncertainties) for biomass and soil carbon across project archetypes.

MRV Frameworks, SOPs and Data Systems

  • Lead development and streamlining of new and current approaches within MRV “playbook”, including methodology interpretation, project archetype guidance, and internal decision rules.
  • Lead development and documentation upkeep on MRV SOPs, field manuals and data standards for soil and biomass MRV, and support QA/QC protocols and training of field teams.
  • Lead the design of MRV data models and schemas (sampling, monitoring, QA/QC, reporting) to be implemented in a consolidated framework linking project databases, GIS systems, and process management tools.
  • Lead development work to streamline and automate MRV workflows (e.g. Sampling Strategy design, data collection protocols, QA/QC checks, uncertainty calculations, reporting templates, etc...).

Quality Assurance, Compliance and Certification

  • Define QA/QC rules and acceptance criteria for MRV data, analyses, and outputs; ensure these are embedded in tools and workflows.
  • Support preparation and review of MRV-related sections in technical documentation (Project Intervention Strategies, Carbon MRV Strategies, PD documents, Monitoring reports, etc…).
  • Technical support in Project Validation and Verification events and queries from VVB and Certification bodies on MRV design, GHG accounting, uncertainties, and data quality.
  • Track and interpret updates to relevant methodologies and standards (namely VM0047, VM0042 and relevant associated modules and tools) to ensure internal frameworks remain aligned with best practice and evolving requirements.

Collaboration with Field Teams, Partners and Consultants

  • Lead technical interaction with external MRV providers, Soil Laboratories, third-party modelers, and auditors, ensuring consistent and high-quality outputs that fit rePLANET’s MRV framework.
  • Work closely with local implementation partners and field teams to translate MRV designs into operational field protocols, including training, supervision, and audit of field implementation where necessary.
  • Technical support during diligence work from Investors and Project Rating agencies when detailed MRV explanations.

Capacity Building and MRV Unit Development

  • Design and deliver internal training and mentoring for both HQ and project specific staff on MRV concepts, soil and biomass methods, and data workflows.
  • Help design the future structure of a central Carbon MRV unit, including identification of priority junior/specialist roles and potential use of a consultant network.

Carbon MRV framework Integration across Project Archetypes

  • Ensure the MRV framework developed for VM0042 and VM0047 can be extended and adapted to other archetypes.
  • Collaborate with wider team and support development and integration of non-VM0042 and VM0047 MRV modules into rePLANET’s broader MRV architecture.

About rePLANET

rePLANET is a for purpose company, driving large scale ecological restoration and protection through private sector funding. Our priority is that the main beneficiary of these projects should be the owners, users or managers of the areas being restored or protected. 60% of the final price of any carbon or biodiversity credit sold from our projects returns to benefit local stakeholders. This level of funding can be life-changing for the impoverished communities benefiting, allowing them to develop small businesses or improve health, education or housing.rePLANET projects produce premium quality carbon and biodiversity credits with substantial benefits to local stakeholders, and the costs of these credits are deliberately kept competitive so that they attract large scale-funding to restore or protect substantial areas.
