Investment Analyst
Green Angel Ventures
The Investment Analyst role is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week. You will work from home, as we all do, though we regularly “hot desk” and meet up in person in London.
You will be reporting to the Investment Principal, as part of the Investment Team.
The role will involve occasional travel across the UK to attend events and conferences or visit potential investee companies.
What you will be doing
Deal origination
Sourcing, investigating and screening new potential companies in which we may invest, by:
- Analysing and researching our live opportunities, including pitch review and founder calls
- Using and improving our specialist AI and automation tools
- Attending conferences, events and expos
- Interacting with co-investors and our investor network
You will gain the authority to progress and terminate deals in the early stages, seeking support from the team when needed.
Due Diligence and Negotiation
- Supporting all stages of the investment process
- Holding online and in-person meetings with companies to build a full picture of the risks and opportunities associated with a potential investment in the company
- Setting up and managing data rooms for each investment opportunity
- Researching, gathering and analysing data to verify information provided by companies to support the decision-making process
- Researching and analysing deals to assist the Investment Team with deal negotiations
- Coordinating the due diligence process across syndicate members, the GAV team and investee companies
Engagement & Reporting
- Attending and assisting with Pitch Events
- Attending external conferences and expos and, over time, representing GAV
- Contributing to and preparing reports, KPIs and other internal updates
- Liaising with and engaging with other GAV colleagues on the progress of deals
What we are looking for from you
- Knowledge and an interest in sustainability and fighting climate change
- Interest in early-stage technology, strong curiosity about startups and innovation
- 0-3 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, private equity, strategy consulting, corporate development, or founder experience
- Strong analytical skills (comfort with market sizing, unit economics, and financial modeling) with an outstanding level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Research & synthesis: ability to turn messy information into clear, structured summaries
- Commercial judgment (e.g. can quickly assess a company’s business model)
- Proven commitment and ability to consistently deliver a high standard of work, with a high level of integrity
- Strong ownership and self-direction: can run tasks end-to-end and hit deadlines, as part of a small team and with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) - including credibility, curiosity and tact to engage with external stakeholders (e.g. investors and founders)
- Great at building rapport with a variety of stakeholders to build good working relationships
- Comfortable in raising concerns or making the right decisions to keep things on track for both client and business integrity
- A continuous improvement mindset, applying a common-sense approach to problem solving with the ability to make changes for the better
- BSc or MSc degree required in engineering, STEM, finance, economics
- Excellent IT skills, particularly with MS Excel or Google Sheets
- You must have the right to work in the UK. All our current Investment Team members work within commuting distance of London. We get together regularly, and you would need to be able to do this too.
Career Progression
As we are a small organisation, it is likely that you will be involved in other aspects of Green Angel Ventures outside your role and experience level. If you have the willingness to learn, continually challenge yourself and demonstrate competency in your role, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your investment career with us.
