Help us to empower communities to lead the transition to a low-carbon future

Power Up North London (PUNL) is a dynamic community energy organisation delivering renewable energy, energy efficiency and retrofit projects that directly benefit community groups and public buildings. We’re driven by a belief that communities can and must play a central role in the transition to a zero-carbon future.

As Projects and Volunteer Manager, you will play a key role in delivering and co-ordinating PUNL’s agreed project pipeline. You will turn approved opportunities into successful projects that generate impact, income and funder confidence. Working closely with volunteers and partners, you will ensure high quality delivery aligned with PUNL’s business plan, funding commitments and income targets.

This is a hands-on role within a small, fast-moving organisation, requiring flexibility, initiative, and a strong focus on practical delivery. It is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working with people and wants to see practical climate action delivered on the ground.

About the role

As our new Projects and Volunteer Manager, you will:

  • Deliver a strong pipeline of community energy projects aligned with PUNL’s strategic aims.
  • Manage the delivery of projects, ensuring timelines, budgets and compliance requirements are met.
  • Attract and co-ordinate volunteers to support project delivery.
  • Maintain clear project tracking and reporting systems.
  • Identify grant opportunities to support feasibility and project delivery.
  • Build and nurture relationships with suppliers and co-delivery partners.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing organisation with a strong track record and an active community base. Having just received 5-year funding from the National Lottery in support of our core running costs, you will be joining at a pivotal moment as PUNL expands its portfolio and deepens its impact across North London.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 3-5 years’ experience of delivering projects and working with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers.
  • Is highly organised, able to co-ordinate people and tasks, manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Is a strong communicator who can build strong relationships with partners, site hosts, suppliers and community groups.
  • Brings an understanding of community energy, sustainability or decarbonisation and is commercially aware.
  • Above all, is motivated by creating real impact and helping communities lead the transition to a low-carbon future.

Why join PUNL?

  • Lead tangible, impactful, local climate action projects
  • Work with an active and passionate volunteer base
  • Join us at an exciting time, with the opportunity to help drive the next stage of our growth and impact on the communities we serve
  • Flexible working arrangements and a values driven environment

Deadline: 2 March 2026

Interviews will take place at the PUNL office in Central London w/c 16 March 2026.
