About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our living collections team at WWT’s Martin Mere Centre.
Duties will include the daily and general maintenance and horticultural control of the grounds and enclosures. As well as supporting the feeding of captive birds and mammals and cleaning of animal enclosures. The successful candidate will support other members of the living collections staff in the overall maintenance and presentation of the site, ensuring the welfare of the wildfowl collection at all times.
The position also requires you to assist with car parking during busy periods.
This position is varied, interesting and calls for a practical approach grounded in experience and competence.
This is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months, working 37.5 hours per week 5 days from 7, including weekends and bank holidays
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Zoological or Horticultural Experience
- Experience in avian and mammalian taxa.
- Experience in incubation techniques.
- Experience in hand rearing of waterfowl and other wetland taxa including flamingos.
- Experience in the operation of agricultural vehicles including tractors, mowers, strimmers and brush cutters.
