Are you passionate about making a difference to the climate crisis by inspiring parents to take action? Have you led and run successful campaigns in Scotland and understand the political landscape? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We are particularly keen to hear from people who experience marginalisation and minoritisation or who are often excluded from decision-making processes. For example, people of colour; people from working-class backgrounds; people from LGBTQ and migrant communities; care-experienced young people and people with disabilities.
About us
Parents for Future Scotland became a charity less than 2 years ago as a result of grassroots parent organising and are now a small staff team with a growing network of activists. We are seeking to make climate action the norm among all parents in Scotland. We are in the midst of a big step change, increasing our influence and reach across the country, and we need you to help us in doing that. This post will be the first of its kind within the organisation.
Main tasks
- Supporting parents/families across Scotland to raise their voices on the Rosebank campaign
- Build and join-up the network of organisations across Scotland undertaking climate campaigning
- Undertake power mapping for local and national campaigns which identifies who we need to influence and how we influence them.
- Provide strategic briefings and background information for the CEO before meetings with office bearers.
- Create campaigns both locally and nationally, organising actions families can undertake
- Work in tandem with our 2 Community Organisers (one in Aberdeen and one operating across Scotland) to identify key volunteers within communities and ensure they have the skills and abilities to build power in their areas and influence decision makers at a local and national level.
- Contribute to hustings in the lead up to Scottish elections.
- Build relationships with our movement members both on our WhatsApp channel and in-person.
- Support online and offline communications, including social and traditional media engagement, newsletter, email marketing, website, and blogs
- Support the redesign of PfFS’ website / promotion materials
- Work collaboratively with the staff team to support them to empower communities to campaign on local issues, as well as hooking them into national campaigns.

Experience
- At least two years’ experience of planning and executing campaigns aimed at engaging the public and influencing decision makers
- Experience in working with grassroots movements at local, national level
- Experience of working with people from different organisations, functions, and cultures to deliver objectives and projects.
- Experience of using digital campaigning tactics
- Experience of, and aptitude for copy-writing and editing including the creation of compelling and professional campaign materials
- Excellent digital marketing and social media knowledge and skills
Logistics
- The base for this role will be Glasgow, which means we will not cover travel costs to come to Glasgow, but we will cover travel costs for other journeys required for the role.
- The staff team are all in on a Tuesday, therefore some availability on Tuesdays is essential
What we offer
- One day per week on a self-employed basis at £200 per day for 36 weeks until 31 December 2026 (£7,200), with additional paid time for team meetings and support meetings (up to £2,000 extra)

- You will work closely with the CEO and our Community Organiser, who will support
you throughout - There is a high likelihood that we can continue the work undertaken in this role past the current funding period.
