Senior Project Manager (Major Projects: Saltmarsh)
WWT
About The Role
WWT is the charity for wetlands. Our mission is to restore wetlands and unlock their power.
This is a critical new role in the Major Projects (Saltmarsh) team driving delivery of landscape scale saltmarsh and coastal habitat restoration, primarily in the Severn Estuary. As a senior project manager you will have responsibility for delivery of at least one site-based project in excess of 150 ha and an opportunity to work with the Major Projects team and other teams across WWT that are facing and overcoming barriers to large scale restoration and understanding more about their superpowers. You will provide direction and leadership to project staff and volunteers and matrix management of multiple contributing teams, engage with multiple stakeholders and have a focus on project programme, budget and risk management.
The role will require multiple days at project sites on the Severn Estuary, primarily in the Forest of Dean and a requirement to attend meetings at WWT Slimbridge but the location of non-site working days is flexible. The role will require regular travel to site and a driving licence is required.
This is a full time, fixed-term contract for 4 years, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree level qualification or similar in a relevant discipline
- Experience of successfully managing and delivering large scale, complex projects from concept to completion, preferably related to habitat restoration, including budget, programme, risk management and meeting agreed standards.
- A track record of building, managing and motivating multi-functional and multi-department project teams.
- Experience of habitat restoration and creation, and of project design, planning and evaluation
- A track record of working with multiple partners, stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
- A problem solver and creative, capable of original thought and an ability to overcome barriers, recover from setbacks and recognise lessons learnt.
- Ability to positively influence external stakeholders, demonstrating advocacy and communication skills, even in challenging situations.
