Community Super Champion (Three Positions Available)

Zero Hours Contract
Fixed-Term until September 2028*
Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour
Base Location: Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, Southampton and surrounding areas

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is shaping a wilder future for our counties – protecting special places, restoring habitats and inspiring people to act for nature. As part of the UK’s fastest-growing movement for nature’s recovery, we lead with passion, integrity and bold thinking. Join a team where your work has purpose, your ideas matter, and you can help create lasting change for wildlife and people.

We are seeking three Community Super Champions to join our cause.

Community Super Champions play a vital role in inspiring people to take action for nature. Depending on your interests and skills, you will contribute to community organising by leading and supporting a diverse range of environmental initiatives. These may include empowering communities to protect, enhance, and connect with local natural spaces; promoting environmental awareness and understanding; creating and enhancing spaces for nature; engaging children and schools through the delivery of educational programmes and activities; supporting community-led nature initiatives; and promoting opportunities for people to connect with nature. There will be a requirement to attend a two-day Outdoor First Aid course due to the nature of the role as well as a one-day training day at our head office in Botley.

We currently have seven Community Super Champions based across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight; we have three new positions available based in Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Southampton and surrounding areas. Hours are flexible and dependent on events and projects being supported.

*These are zero hours, fixed-term opportunities until September 2028. Our intentions are to continue the project and will endeavour to source new funding nearer the time and hope to extend the Super Champion roles.

About you:

You are an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a genuine passion for nature and commitment to environmental stewardship. You have some experience of working on community or environmental projects, either in a voluntary or paid capacity, and enjoy empowering and inspiring people to take positive action for nature.
