Background

We are looking for a part time Project Manager to join and manage our team of 2 full time energy advisors and 1 part time engagement, communications and marketing expert. The team provides a free and impartial home energy advice service throughout Perth and Kinross.

The post is initially until 30 November 2027 but may be extended subject to future funding.

A relevant qualification in home energy advice would be beneficial.

Role

To oversee the delivery of the Energy Redress Scheme project ref GOFG111310116 during the fixed term on behalf of the BRDT Board and the Management Team.

To lead the project team, undertaking activities to reduce household energy demand, fuel poverty and carbon emissions throughout Perth & Kinross.

The project manager will also reach out to the local communities to secure their engagement in achieving the aims of the project.

The post-holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the project, overseeing energy surveys, reporting, communications and marketing. They will also carry out home or remote assessments supporting households to reduce their energy consumption when needed. The role contributes to raising awareness and ensuring the service is effective across the area.

Working with groups and project partners, he/she will raise awareness of the need to make changes to reduce CO2e output.

Key Objectives and responsibilities

Project Management

  • Provide leadership to, and oversee the project team
  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of all communications and outreach strategies.
  • Planning and running of events promoting/highlighting the activities/objectives of the project.
  • Provide monthly reports to the BRDT Management Team, funders and other applicable stakeholders as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with relevant agencies and stakeholders; with emphasis on local strategic influence.
  • Develop, produce, and manage the delivery of a work plan and targets, as agreed by the Board, Management Team and funders.
  • Explore opportunities to enhance the organisation's reputation by taking ownership for identifying and accomplishing new, additional, added value, initiatives as approved by the Board via the Management Team.

Operational

  • To support the administration of the team budget and financial reporting to the Board via the Management Team and funders
  • Support the organisation in HR matters – concerns are to be brought to the Management Team.
  • The role requires travel within Perth & Kinross, with access to a vehicle, and occasional evening/weekend work to meet project objectives.

Energy Advice

  • Provide support and advice to domestic householders looking to increase their energy efficiency.
  • Carry out home energy efficiency assessments in line with targets
    • Provide detailed reports for householders with recommendations for action.
    • Provide follow up support including advice on grants and schemes to help with costs of work to be carried out.
    • Make referrals as appropriate to PKC, HES, HEEPS and any other funding source.
    • Collect monitoring data on energy use before and after intervention.
    • Maintain a confidential CRM.
    • Advise house occupants on behavioural change to reduce energy consumption.
    • Advise householders on switching suppliers to one with a lower tariff.
    • If wished by the householder, advise on possibilities for renewable sources of energy – particularly in areas with no access to gas.
    • Where necessary, provide ongoing support to households in a caseworker role.

Training and development

The post holder will ensure that any new staff are led through the probationary period to train them in the standards and processes applied by the Project. Thereafter they will monitor and advise as necessary.

Other Responsibilities

The Project Manager will work with project partners and continue to build on the good relationships and opportunities with them for the benefit of all service users. They will also support the development of future energy efficiency projects that may arise ensuring that the Board and BRDT Management Team are kept informed.
