West Cumbria Rivers Trust (WCRT) is a registered environmental charity dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the wildlife and habitats of rivers, lakes and the surrounding countryside in West Cumbria. We are a successful Rivers Trust with a territory covering several principal river catchments which include seven iconic lakes spanning a substantial part of the Lake District National Park and West Cumbria. We have an impressive track record of successful delivery of projects and are looking to employ a Farming Learning and Engagement Officer to deliver our new farming programme.

We believe that reconnecting people to the natural world is essential to safeguarding its future and it also comes with a host of physical and mental health benefits for people. This exciting role will be delivering farming and environmental education and community activities across West Cumbria, with the aim of engaging people in the farming and watery world around them to ensure its preservation for future generations.

The post will deliver our new farming programme, based on the curriculum along with outreach events and activities to communities in WCRT’s catchments, promoting the work of WCRT and inspiring young people and communities along the way. The sessions are linked to WCRT’s Education Strategy with a focus on the deprived communities of the west coast.

The main aim of the role is to promote people’s knowledge and appreciation of farming and their natural environment and to foster a lifelong connection with farming and nature, particularly around the lakes and rivers in West Cumbria. This includes pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools, post 16, special needs schools and home learners groups as well as adult interest groups and volunteers, where we support people to take action for their local rivers.

If you believe that you have the passion, commitment and skills to take this exciting opportunity forward then we would like to hear from you. For further details please visit the jobs section of the West Cumbria Rivers Trust's website.

Closing Date for applications is Wednesday 8th April 2026 at 9am. Interviews will be held in Keswick on Wednesday 22nd April 2026.
