Mae ardal y prosiect yn ymdrin a’r Afon Cefni, yr aber Cefni, ac yr ardaloedd arfordirol cyfagos gan gynhwyso holl gynefinoedd, cymunedau a rhanddeiliaid.

Fydd hefyd yn adrodd yn ol i'r arweinydd prosiect ac yn derbyn hyfforddiant mewn arolygon mamaliaid morol, monitro ansawdd dŵr ac cymorth gan hwyluswyr proffesiynol. Mae’r swyddfa wedi’i leoli ar yr Ystad Bodorgan, ble mae’r Sea Watch Foundationyn cynnal interniaeth preswyl rhwng Ebrill a Tachwedd. Mi fydd yr Swyddog Ymgysylltu Cymunedol yn cefnogi yr interniaid drwy sesiynau hyfforddi ac yn cyd-weithio gyda’r interniaid er mwyn cynnal digwyddiadau cyhoeddus a gweithgareddau Caru’r Cefni.

The Sea Watch Foundation is a long-established national UK marine environmental research charity concerned with monitoring the numbers and distribution of whales, dolphins and porpoises in the seas around the British Isles, as well as investigating the conservation threats that they face. In the 1970s, its Director developed cetacean “Citizen Science” in the UK, with a special partnership between scientists and trained volunteer observers drawn from all walks of life, which has led to one of the largest and longest-running cetacean sightings databases in Europe.

The Sea Watch Foundation has received funding through the Landfill Tax Community Scheme administered by the WCVA to fund the Caru’r Cefni, Love the Cefni project. The project engages with stakeholders (locals, communities, groups, clubs, businesses, statutory organisations, environmental bodies, etc) to build new relationships for Sea Watch Foundation, raise awareness of the link between river and sea, invite people (all stakeholders of this environmental catchment area) to celebrate biodiversity, share concerns, and success stories, with the opportunity to join in facilitated discussions to study the findings together and explore opportunities for new forms of governance and collective action.

The project area covers the Afon Cefni, Cefni estuary and the neighbouring coastal area with inclusion of all habitats, communities and stakeholders.

The Community Engagement Officer will lead on conversations with the communities along the Afon Cefni catchment, identifying with the communities, key areas for action and support to improve biodiversity. The Community engagement Officer will report to the Project Manager and will receive training in marine mammal survey, water quality monitoring and support from professional facilitators.
