Salary: £25,000 rising to £27,500 on successful completion of six-month probation, and meeting development criteria
Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire, with regular travel to sites across the UK.

About the Role

This is an exciting entry-level opportunity offering structured training, real responsibility from day one, and clear progression for high performers. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being at the forefront of meaningful environmental work, this role is for you.

As an Environmental Field Scientist, you’ll spend most of your time in the field, supporting and maintaining our extensive network of water quality monitoring equipment. Your work will directly contribute to delivering high quality real-time environmental data to a wide range of clients, from private organisations to government bodies.

This is a varied, active role where no two days are the same—combining fieldwork, technical tasks, and data handling.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Servicing and maintaining monitoring stations across multiple sites
  • Supporting site installations and decommissioning projects
  • Collecting environmental samples
  • Assembling and testing equipment before deployment
  • Calibrating and servicing instrumentation
  • Collating and interpreting water quality data

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated individuals who are keen to learn, grow, and build a long-term career with us.

Candidates will bring:

  • A qualification in environmental science (or a related field), or equivalent experience
  • Some experience of in a field-based environment and a happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with good attention to detail
  • The ability to effectively manage workload, prioritise work requests and solve problems effectively
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the South East and wider UK
  • A full UK driving licence (essential)
