We’re Hiring: Ecology & Environment Officer
Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) Cardington HQ + sites across Bedfordshire.
21–35 hours per week (flexible)
Salary £32,597 - £34,434 for full time 35hpw, pro-rata for part time hours
Initial 12 month contract with possible extension

What you’ll do
In this varied, meaningful role, you’ll:
- Deliver ecological surveys, reports, and Biodiversity Net Gain advice
- Support the management of countryside sites and implement habitat enhancements
- Recruit, train, and lead volunteers in practical conservation tasks
- Contribute to the Upper & Bedford Ouse Catchment Partnership
- Support wider Green Infrastructure projects, from community gardens to community engagement programmes
- Represent BRCC on county‑wide groups, influencing biodiversity policy
What you’ll bring
Essential:
✔ Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science or similar
✔ Experience in ecological fieldwork
✔ Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain
✔ Strong communication skills
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
✔ Full UK driving licence + own vehicle
Desirable:
- CIEEM membership
- Botanical skills (FISC 3+)
- GCN/bat licence (or working towards)
- Experience working with volunteers
- First Aid at Work (or willingness to train)
