Data and Evidence Officer - Coast to Coast Nature Trail
National Trails UK
We're looking for an experienced Data and Evidence Officer to help develop an exciting new project; Coast to Coast Scoping the Nature Trail.
We know that National Trail corridors deliver for people and nature but we are just beginning to explore what this looks like across the length of a whole National Trail. The Coast to Coast Scoping the Nature Trail Project will do just that.
This project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be exploring the creation of an extensive wildlife rich corridor of at least 60,000 hectare, along and around the newly designated Coast to Coast National Trail. The route spans three National Parks, a National Landscape and two Heritage Coasts, and has recently benefitted from upgraded signage and surfacing.
Hosted by National Trails UK, the Data and Evidence Officer will work closely with a Project Manager based in the Lake District National Park and an Engagement Officer based in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Having a strong data and evidence base is central to this project's early development phase and will lay the foundation for future delivery. We're therefore looking for someone who is confident working with large datasets (ideally environmental), skilled in the use of GIS, and familiar with ecological principles so that they can hit the ground running in guiding this landscape scale project.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds, experiences, and sections of the community.
Please read the full role responsibilities document on our website, note we are looking for someone who can start by 15 June 2026, or as soon as thereafter.
Interviews will be held online on Tuesday 5th May.
Salary: £35,000 (0.6 FTE) i.e. 3 days per week with a £21,000 actual salary. 1 year fixed-term with potential to extend, subject to funding.
Hybrid working at either the Lake District National Park Office in Kendal or the Yorkshire Dales National Park Office in Bainbridge, with occasional travel along the Coast to Coast National Trail corridor.
