Senior Catchment Restoration Officer – Join Our Mission to Restore the River Severn

Hybrid – Home-based with occasional travel to our Head Office in Martley and regular travel across the Teme catchment and occasionally across the Severn catchment area

At Severn Rivers Trust, we are passionate about catchment-scale restoration and have bold ambitions to turn the tide on the Severn’s recovery. Our mission is to expand our conservation programmes while strengthening our engagement with local communities to restore and protect this vital river system.

We are a dynamic, can-do organisation that thrives on challenges and takes action. If you are someone who loves to get things done and wants to be at the forefront of ecological restoration along Britain’s longest river, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Your Career in Environmental Conservation!

Are you passionate about nature conservation and eager to make a tangible impact? This is an exciting opportunity to continue your career in environmental conservation within a leading environmental charity. You will be at the heart of ambitious ecological projects along the River Severn.

Your Role

As a key member of our expanding Operations Team, you will oversee the planning and delivery of large-scale, multi-disciplinary catchment restoration programmes — from floodplain reconnection, species recovery and woodland creation to agricultural advice and fish passage infrastructure.

This is a strategic and hands-on role, requiring both coordination of complex partnerships, programme management and on-the-ground delivery expertise.

You will work closely with farmers, landowners, contractors, funders and partner organisations to drive forward nature-based solutions that improve river health, boost biodiversity, and build climate resilience across the Severn basin.

What You Will Do

  • Leading delivery of a varied programme of catchment restoration projects.
  • Developing revenue generating programmes of work
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, contractors, and reporting of complex partnership projects
  • Line managing, supporting and mentoring staff
  • Building relationships with stakeholders across the sector
  • Leading on the design of new projects and funding bids

Who Are We Looking For

We are looking for a senior officer who is:

  • Experienced in partnership project and programme management
  • Passionate about catchment restoration, with a strong track record of delivering environmental projects
  • Experienced in coordinating practical habitat creation, restoration works, or infrastructure projects
  • Skilled in building trusted relationships with landowners, stakeholders, funders and partners
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic, field-based environment
  • Knowledgeable in UK environmental policy, agri-environment schemes, and land management practices
  • Self-driven, solutions-focused, and eager to share knowledge as part of a collaborative team

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in environmental conservation while contributing to the restoration of one of Britain’s most important river systems.
