About The Role

WWT Caerlaverock is a stunning nature reserve situated on the north Solway coast. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Reserve Warden to join our team. Working under the guidance of the Site Manager, you will support the management and day-to-day operation of the nature reserve. The role includes hands-on management of habitats, maintenance of reserve infrastructure and species monitoring helping deliver our conservation objectives.

You will also play an active role in engaging visitors to the reserve and communicating our core conservation messages. This post will suit someone with practical reserve management experience and strong public engagement skills. Experience of surveying wetland species would be an advantage. The role also includes some duty management responsibilities.

The preferred arrangement is 5 days per week, although we would also welcome applications from candidates interested in working 3 or 4 days per week (7.5 hours per day). Working days will be scheduled across 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays.

This is a 3-month, fixed-term contract.

There is potential for the successful candidate to make use of on-site rented accommodation.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Agricultural/land-management experience including use of machinery and power tools
  • Team working skills
  • IT skills including use of spreadsheets
  • A working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work
  • Full driving licence
  • Although not essential, biological fieldwork skills including bird ID would be beneficial
