North York Moors National Park Authority
Programme Assistant - Farming in Protected Landscapes
Located in Helmsley, North Yorkshire
The North York Moors National Park Authority helps to care for one of the UK’s most distinctive protected landscapes. Spanning 554 square miles, the National Park is home to expansive heather moorland, woodland, remote dales, historic villages and dramatic coastline, and plays an important role in supporting nature, communities and sustainable access for visitors.
We are now looking for a Programme Assistant to join our Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme on a full-time basis, working 37 hours per week for a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2029.
The Defra funded FiPL Programme is running in all the English National Parks and National Landscapes to help farmers and other land managers adapt to future changes in agricultural support. By supporting farmers, land managers and people who live and work in these areas, we can help protect these exceptional places and support local communities.
Specifically, it supports activities that benefit nature recovery, mitigates against the impacts of climate change, provides opportunities for people to discover, enjoy and understand the landscape and its cultural heritage, and supports nature-friendly, sustainable farm businesses.
The Benefits
- Salary of £28,153 - £31,015 per annum, depending on experience
- 25 days’ annual leave, rising annually by one day to 30 days after five years’ service, plus public holidays
- Local Government Pension Scheme
This is an exciting opportunity for a land management professional with strong knowledge of agri-environment schemes and practical experience working with farmers and land managers to join our inspiring organisation.
You’ll have the chance to contribute to one of our flagship conservation initiatives, where your work will play a visible role in supporting the future of the National Park and the communities connected to it.
What’s more, you’ll discover the perfect environment in which to strengthen your expertise and accelerate your career in conservation and land management as part of a passionate, dedicated team.
So, if you’re ready to help shape positive environmental outcomes across the North York Moors, apply now and take your next step with us.
