Conservation & Wildlife

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Project Assistant - Hull & East Riding.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is the catchment host for the Hull & East Riding Catchment Partnership which forms a part of the Catchment Based Approach work in the county. The focus of much of the work is set in a farming context, with an extensive man-made drainage system linked to a network of flowing watercourses, although there is an element of urban focus within the city of Hull.

More broadly the aim will be to deliver our blueprint for nature’s recovery looking at connections between farming and the regions spring fed chalk streams, man-made drainage systems and wildlife recovery, along with links to other initiatives and opportunities such as the Local Nature Recovery Strategy and the city of Hull’s Living with Water Programme. This role supports the work of the catchment partnership through volunteer and citizen science work programmes, habitat management works, and with thorough and accurate data management.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors and using a range of manual tools. With a good sense of managing risk and the confidence to communicate this to a range of people you will be comfortable with digital systems and have a good attitude to capturing and recording data. A passion for nature conservation, particularly wetland environments, will be vital as well as a full UK driving licence and willingness to regularly drive to sites and reserves.

Closing date: 7th June 2026 (midnight)
