Are you an experienced conservation professional with the leadership skills to shape large-scale river and catchment projects?
We are looking for a Conservation Manager to lead phase 1 of our new project: Reconnecting & Reviving the Caldew, supported by a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
During phase 1, you will work with farmers, landowners, partners and local communities to develop ambitious riparian and habitat improvement projects and write a capital bid that, over a further five years, will deliver a phased programme of small- and large-scale projects to deliver real impact to rivers, wildlife and people across the Caldew catchment.
This role could be for you if you:
- Have a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, backed up with in-depth technical knowledge and 5 years plus experience of developing and delivering large-scale habitat improvement projects on privately owned land,
- Are confident managing budgets, reporting to funders and developing fundable project proposals.
- Are an effective people manager and a persuasive communicator who can build trust with farmers, landowners and partners.
This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of riparian conservation in the Upper Caldew. You will join a committed team working to create healthier rivers, thriving wildlife and to inspire and empower communities across North Cumbria.
This role is offered initially for 18 months, with the opportunity to extend.
